People on the move
Steve Tesch, a professor of silviculture in the OSU Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management, has been named executive associate dean. Brenda McComb, an associate dean for natural resources at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, has been named head of OSU's Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society.
Tesch, who came to OSU from the University of Montana in 1981, has more than 30 years of experience as an academic leader, teacher, scientist, and outreach educator. He succeeds Stephen Hobbs, who retired last month after 30 years of service to the university.
McComb will succeed W. Thomas Adams, interim department head and former head of the forest science department, who is retiring after 30 years at OSU. She will assume her new position on April 15.
McComb, an expert in natural resources conservation and wildlife management, was the associate dean for research and outreach at Massachusetts-Amherst's College of Natural Resources and the Environment. She has also been on the faculty at the University of Kentucky and OSU, and worked as chief of the watershed ecology branch in Corvallis for the Environmental Protection Agency.

Karen McLain, volunteer coordinator for Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, has been inducted into the 2008 Hospice Dream Team as the Hospice Volunteer Coordinator of the Year by the Oregon Hospice Association.
Hospice providers from around the state submitted their nominations in several categories for the fifth annual Hospice Dream Team awards banquet that was held on Jan. 22 in Portland. Since the awards were first presented in 2004, the dream team has become a tradition for Oregon's hospice provider programs.

Dr. Margaret Stahler, N.D., MPH, Ph.D., has opened Madrona Naturopathic Clinic at 1229 Main St. in Philomath. She studied Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University in Seattle and Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley. Her specialty is cranial sacral therapy (CST) practiced as energy medicine. CST is a light touch osteopathic therapy that aids the healing of pain and injuries. As a primary care physician, she also addresses acute and chronic diseases of adults with natural medicine. The Corvallis Clinic recently opened a new location at North Albany Village. The clinic's three physicians, Dr. Ann Jurani-Suarez, Dr. Frank Sievert and Dr. Robert Wirth are now accepting new patients. Dr. Jurani-Suarez and Dr. Sievert specialize in family medicine. Dr. Wirth is an internist and specializes in adult medicine. The phone number for The Corvallis Clinic at North Albany Village is 541-926-3441.
