People on the Move

Tina Gain recently joined Samaritan Obstetrics and Gynecology in Corvallis. As a certified nurse-midwife, Gain provides gynecologic and obstetric care for women including annual exams, obstetric care, postpartum exams, contraception counseling and other well-woman care. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from the Pennsylvania College of Technology, and a master's degree in nursing from Stony Brook Pathways to Midwifery in New York. She has been practicing nurse-midwifery since 2003, and nursing since 1989.

Sarah Sjolander has joined Express Employment Professionals of Albany / Lebanon as a new business developer.

Angela Garcia-Leija has joined the Albany branch of Coldwell Banker Valley Brokers as a broker. Garcia-Leija recently graduated from the Linn-Benton Community College real estate program.

Dan Peterson, assistant vice president for development at University of Washington School of Medicine, has been named assistant vice president for gift planning for the Oregon State University Foundation.

Three other new staff members at the foundation are Doug Brusa, new director of development for OSU's College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences; Martha Coleman, new director of foundation relations; and Mark Koenig, OSU Foundation's new director of research, discovery, and prospect management.

The Foundation also has promoted three members of its Beaver Athletic Student Fund office. Tim Allen has become donor relations coordinator, Roslyn Burch has become assistant director of BASF donor relations, and Nicole Markel has become assistant director of BASF events. Also, accounting manager Patricia Nowak was promoted to assistant controller.

Comings and goings

D&J Denture Center has opened a new location at 33894 S.E. Eastgate Circle in the Eastgate Business Center just east of Corvallis on Highway 34. The new location will offer on-site service to full and partial dentures as well as denture repairs and relines. The phone is 754-4901 and e-mail is djdenture@qwestoffice.net.

Training and development

Jennifer Fidler of Windermere/Willamette Valley Albany recently received a real estate principal broker's license. This designation allows her to handle auctioning, exchanging, renting and leasing of real estate and to manage the work of other real estate professionals.

Suzanne Cook, vice president-investments with Schupp•Plemmons•Cook Wealth Management Group of Wachovia Securities, has completed the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) Professional Designation Program. The designation is awarded to students who complete a specialized course, pass a final examination, and sign a code of ethics commitment and declaration form.

Officers and directors

Pat Sardell has been elected president-elect of the National Products Association. Sardell, owner and operator of Country Vitamins in Corvallis, has on the association's board of directors since 2000, and has more than two decades of experience in natural products retailing. She serve the next year as a member of the executive committee and begin serving as president next summer at the 2009 annual business meeting and convention.

The Benton County Foundation has added three new members to its board of directors. Joy Ragsdale, a CPA with Ingle, Carl and Ragsdale, LLC, has been appointed by the Rotary Club of Greater Corvallis. Ragsdale will serve as treasurer. Lark Wysham, the chief financial officer for Citizens Bank, has been appointed by the Benton County Commissioners. Diana Simpson-Godfrey, Benton County sheriff, has been appointed by the Rotary Club of Corvallis Morning.

Others on the board of directors include Pete Sekermestrovich, president; Rob Gardner, vice-president; Larry Holcomb, secretary; Glenn Plemmons, Michael Rainbolt, Susan Schmidt, Jim Jordon and Scott Fewel.

The Benton County Foundation began in 1953 as a community foundation. It manages more than 200 endowment funds for individuals and nonprofit organizations. Its total assets are approximately $11.5 million.

Marys River Lumber Co. was recently selected for the 2008 Best of Corvallis Award in the Lumber Category by the U.S. Local Business Association. The USLBA Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country.
