Patti LeBlanc has joined the real estate sales team at Windermere/

Willamette Valley, Albany. Patti has been listing and selling real estate since 2006. Previously she worked for an oil company. She has been living in the Albany area for nearly six years.

Susan Snyder has been promoted to laboratory manager at The Corvallis Clinic. She succeeds Rich Eastburn, who recently retired after 40 years at The Clinic.

Snyder was previously the laboratory assistant manager and has held other positions in the laboratory since she began working at The Clinic in 1989.

Corvallis Tourism, the convention and visitors bureau for Corvallis, was presented with the "Creative Tourism Development Award" at the 25th Governor's Conference on Tourism in Salem on April 19. The award was given by the Oregon Tourism Commission and Travel Oregon, the state's tourism marketing agency.

CEO John Hope-Johnstone accepted the award on behalf of Corvallis Tourism's board and members. The award cited its innovative "Corvallis Culinary Week" promotion held in January to revitalize restaurant business after last December's devastating storms had reduced the normal holiday season income. More than 1,600 people downloaded certificates to use at nine local restaurants and filled them to capacity for the week.

Tyee Wine Cellars of Corvallis won two Gold Medals at the 2009 World Wine Championships in Chicago this month.

Tyee 2006 Estate Barrel Select Pinot Noir scored 92 points, Gold Medal, and rated the distinction of "Cellar Selection," the highest rating of all Pinot Noirs entered. Tyee 2006 Estate Pinot Noir scored 91 points, a Gold Medal, and was rated "Exceptional" by the judges.

Merrilee Buchanan Benson is Tyee's winemaker.

News and notes

Greenberry Construction was recently awarded two projects. Greenberry Construction will begin the South Albany High School 2009 Renovations in mid-May. Project scope includes renovation and upgrades to athletic locker rooms, the science building, shop building, vocational building cafeteria, and multiple ADA restroom improvements. Also, Greenberry Construction was awarded the Kidco Head Start Kitchen Renovation and HVAC Expansion at the Head Start facility on Riverside Drive.

Officers and directors

Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Steve Jasperson has been elected regent for the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 30,000 health care executives. As a regent, Jasperson will serve a three-year term representing American College of Healthcare Executives affiliates in Oregon. The duties include working as an adviser and consultant to the regional chapter, hosting educational and recognition programs and more.

Comings and goings

James Shingleton has opened a Cricket wireless telephone service store in Lebanon at 1260 Main St. Cricket offers flat-rate, unlimited service without requiring a long-term contract. Rates start from $30 a month. Cricket services are provided through Leap Wireless International Inc., headquartered in San Diego, Calif.

Training and development

Registered nurses Susan Merrill, BSN, RN, CCM, and Joann Stutzman, BSN, RN, ONC, of The Corvallis Clinic, have been recertified as MammaCare® Specialists. MammaCare is the recognized standard for teaching and performing clinical breast examination in breast cancer screening clinics.

The Corvallis Clinic Foundation offers introductory MammaCare classes through Project H.E.R. (Help. Enlightenment. Resources.) to women in Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties. The 90-minute classes are presented in a small-group setting. The cost is a $20 contribution per person to The Corvallis Clinic Foundation. To schedule a class, call 541-738-2065, Ext. 2.

Cody Timmins, a project engineer at Greenberry Construction of Corvallis, recently received his accreditation as a LEED Accredited Professional. Those accredited, as approved by the Green Building Certification Institute, have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System.
