Lon McQuillan, M.D., recently joined Samaritan Pediatrics in Corvallis. McQuillan attended medical school at the University of Utah. He completed pediatric residency training at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, followed by a pediatric primary care fellowship at the University of Colorado, Denver.
Comings and goings
Corvallis Custom Kitchens and Baths showroom has relocated to 602 N.W. Fourth St., in an historic Corvallis home site renovated by owners Brian and Kris Egan. An open house is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 6.
Training and development
Paul Sawicki, PT, OCS, ATC, CSCS, physical therapist at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center's Physical Rehabilitation Department, has recently become a board-certified specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS).
Officers and directors
Stan Baker, superintendent for Santiam Christian Schools located at Adair Village, was recently elected as president-elect of the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools. This regional accreditation body accredits the public and private schools of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, and Utah. Baker will serve two years as president-elect and then two years as president of the organization.

Corvallis Independent Business Alliance recently named new members to its board of directors: Evelyn Hall, First Alternative Natural Foods Co-op; Matt Holton, Willamette Neighborhood Housing; and Chris Shonnard, Shonnard's Nursery, Florist & Landscape. Others on the CIBA board include Pat Sardell, president; Bob Baird, vice president; Kate Lindburg, secretary; Ilene Anderton, treasurer; Peter Ball, Catherine Holdorf, Peg Obrist, Becky Picton and Laurie Zink. CIBA is a voluntary, cooperative effort of independent, local businesses that use education, networking, political advocacy, and citizen involvement to help our community prosper and contribute to a diverse, healthy and stable local economy.

Linn-Benton Community College's Board of Education selected new officers for the 2008-09 year at its annual organization meeting held in July.
Ron Mason, representative for rural Benton County zone 5, was elected chair, succeeding Hal Brayton from Lebanon zone 4. Dick Running, Albany zones 2-3, was elected vice chair.
Mason, of Corvallis, has been on the LBCC board since 2005. He retired from LBCC after 26 years of teaching math. He holds a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Southern Florida. Running, an Albany certified public accountant, has been on the board since 2007.
Additional board members are Janice Horner, Claus Sass, Hal Brayton, Tom Wogaman and Ann Brodie.

The Corvallis Branch of the American Association of University Women recently named its officers for 2008-09. They are: Janice Abel, president; Chris Smith, program vice president; Nancy Neumann, Edie Lee and Marion Dickens, membership vice presidents; Sue Borden, treasurer; and Hope Reenstjerna, secretary.
