People on the move

Meagan Harsen has joined Mission Hills Mortgage in Albany as a senior mortgage consultant. She has 18 years of experience in the lending industry and is a graduate of the University of California, Riverside.

Samantha C. Cota, a licensed clinical aesthetician, has been hired by Samaritan Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to provide evaluation and treatment of skin disorders.

Internist Chee Lee, M.D., recently joined the Corvallis Clinic Internal Medicine Department as a medical provider. Lee received his medical degree from the Medical University of Ohio in 1998, completed his internship at Medical University Hospitals in Toledo, Ohio, in 1999, and his residency at Medical University Hospitals in 2001. He is board-certified in internal medicine.

PEAK Internet, a locally owned and operated Internet provider, recently announced that David Placko, formerly a director of engineering, has been promoted to chief technology officer and Mark Jacobson, the company controller, has been promoted to chief financial officer.

Comings and goings

Judith Csanky, M.D., is relocating her gastroenterology practice from Corvallis to Albany. The new office, at 1086 Seventh Ave. S.W., Albany, will open Tuesday.

Psychologist Carol A. Carver, Ph.D., has received the Distinguished Service Award for 2007-2008 from the Lane County Psychologists' Association. The award is "in gratitude for her unstinting voluntarism in governance and advocacy for the profession of psychology." Carver has served clients in the Albany-Corvallis area for 24 years.

Officers and directors

The OSU Retirement Association (OSURA), an organization of retired OSU faculty and staff, has elected its leadership for the 2008-2009 year: Bill Smart, president; Jo Anne Trow, vice-president; Kathy Heath, past president; Barbara Stuber, secretary; and Carol Kronstad, treasurer.

Board members-at-large are Erin Haynes, Jim Krueger, Curt McCann, Susan Poole, Mike Rainbolt and Gary Tiedeman.

Committee chairs are Roy Arnold, member services; Glenn Klein, golf tournament; Bobbye Koeper, volunteer coordinator; Curt McCann, program; Kathy Meddaugh, membership; Susan Poole, scholarship; and Gary Tiedeman, communication. Shelly Houghtaling and Kate Sanders, university events, are the university liaisons to OSURA.

The Friends of the Corvallis-Benton County Library, a nonprofit, all volunteer membership organization supporting and advocating for library services, recently approved officers and directors for 2008-09. Officers are Cheryl Maze and Corrine Gobeli, co-presidents; David Newman and Phyllis Sartain, co-treasurers; and Chris Rochester, secretary. Directors include Dena Elliott, Monroe liaison and staff relations; Debra Goldenberg, Random Reviews; James Howard, holiday book sale; David Low, foundation liaison; Lois Malango, past president and Benton Books; Stefani Mcrae-Dickey, Philomath liaison; Jacque Schreck, library board liaison; Mark Speulda and Barbara Levine, February book sale; Ted and Dolores Touw, warehouse; and Kathy Vohland, membership.

Training and development

Sharna Prasad, a physical therapist for Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center's Physical Rehabilitation Department, recently completed Level 3 of the Transitional Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy Program. This is a certification provided by the Women's Health Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Oregon Business magazine is launching the 100 Best Companies to Work For in Mid-Valley. The 100 Best Mid-Valley event will take place in November 2008 and will spotlight the region's best places to work with an awards ceremony and coverage in the magazine.

On Aug. 11, survey sign-up is available for companies. On Aug. 18, the survey opens for employees. Sept. 12 is the deadline for mid-valley surveys.
