Mary Eads has been named executive director of the Conservatory for Music Education in Albany by the board of the nonprofit music school, replacing founder and previous administrator Roma Eicher, who died in December. Eads also continues her duties as early childhood music instructor, piano instructor and director of promotions and marketing. She has been with the conservatory since 1998.

Dan Herbst has joined the Albany office of Coldwell Banker Valley Brokers as a real estate broker. Herbst previously spent 32 years with Oregon Freeze Dry Inc.

Wells Fargo has promoted Damon Dishman to community banking district manager for Linn and Benton counties. Dishman previously managed two bank branches in Portland. He now manages 71 people at seven branches in Corvallis, Albany, Philomath, Lebanon and Sweet Home. Dishman has a bachelor's degree in business management from Texas State University.

Vicki Schoenleber has joined Citizens Bank as a vice president and manager of the Springfield branch. Schoenleber has been in banking for 32 years, most recently as a district sales manager.

Christina Lee, a board certified physician assistant, has joined Samaritan Surgical Specialists in Corvallis. She works with Dr. David Faddis, who specializes in surgical oncology and breast surgery. Lee has bachelor's degrees in exercise and sports science and general science from Oregon State University and a master's degree in physician assistant studies from Oregon Health & Science University. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and a certified athletic trainer.

Doug Hart of Hart's Nursery in Jefferson has been elected to the board of the Agri-Business Council of Oregon. The board drives the public education, product promotion and business efficiency programs of the organization.

Keller Williams Mid-Willamette brought home 17 awards for sales production from the company's recent regional awards ceremony in Seattle. The Sue Long team won a Platinum Award, indicating 2006 commissions in excess of $500,000. Other awards (with the minimum commission levels required to earn them) included the Jacque Lusk team, Quad Gold ($400,000); Nancy Kruse, Double Gold ($240,000); Maureen Stover, Gold ($180,000); and Amie Fennah and Mary Ellis, silver ($120,000). Eleven agents received Bronze Awards, representing commissions of at least $60,000. They are Christy Luehring, Dolf Peterson, Bonny Burks, Carol Trueba, Signe Danler, Robert G. Smith, Christine Kites, John Hood-Fysh, Barbara Swain, Chuck Andersen and Ric Vega.

Melissa Frenzel has been named to the 2006 Hospice Dream Team as a support staff person by the Oregon Hospice Association. Frenzel is the clerical specialist at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in Albany.

Sonia Anderson, BSN, RN, CWCN, of Corvallis has met the requirements for certification in wound care nursing from the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Certification Board. Applicants must pass an examination to become certified in this nursing specialty.

Comings & Goings

Tas Tea has opened for business in Suite D at Madison Plaza, 425 S.W. Madison Ave. in Corvallis. Owned by Ronda Deibele, the shop offers more than 100 kinds of loose-leaf tea and herbs. The shop also offers custom blending and sells a variety of teapots, infusers and other accessories. Tas Tea is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday. The phone number is 753-4017. The store will have a grand opening celebration all this week, with discounts, giveaways and tea tastings.

Leesa Walters and Randall Davis have opened Two Cranes Acupuncture and Massage at 1723 N.W. Kings Blvd. in Corvallis. Both are licensed by the state as acupuncturists and are certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Walters is also licensed by the state as a massage therapist. The business is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and offers low-cost "community acupuncture" treatments from 1 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons, as well as free classes on alternating Tuesday evenings. The phone number is 738-6117. Two Cranes will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. next Monday.

The Austin Family Business Program at Oregon State University is accepting nominations for its annual Excellence in Family Business Awards. Awards are given in four size categories: micro (fewer than 10 employees), small (10 to 24 employees), medium (25 to 99 employees) and large (100 or more employees). The AgCam camera system made by Smucker Manufacturing Inc. of Harrisburg will be featured as a top 10 new product at the annual World Ag Expo this week in Tulare, Calif. The rugged camera system, which features an infrared lens for night vision and can be completely submerged in water, is designed for farming and other applications. Smucker Manufacturing is owned by Rob Smucker.

The Oregon Department of Justice has announced its top 10 consumer complaints list for 2006. Telecommunications led the parade of industries that roused citizens' ire last year with 1,025 complaints, followed by financial institutions with 761, motor vehicle sales with 700, collection agencies with 483, Internet retailers with 469, sweepstakes, prize promotions and foreign lotteries with 466, health care with 432, gas prices with 295, Internet auctions with 288 and construction contractors with 273.

Darlene Russ-Eft, an associate professor in the College of Education at Oregon State University, has co-written a second edition of "A Practical Guide to Needs Assessment," a resource for human resources and training professionals. Russ-Eft wrote the update with Catherine M. Sleezer, the manager of learning and organization development at Baker Hughes-Centrilift. The book is published by Pfeiffer and co-published by the American Society for Training and Development.

Reinvestment

Love I.N.C. of Benton County is the recipient of a $1,400 grant from the PGE Foundation. The corporate foundation of Portland General Electric distributed a total $883,473 in grants to Oregon nonprofits in the promotion of healthy families, education, arts and culture.
