Joni Jensen has joined RE/MAX Integrity located on Santiam Highway in Albany. Jensen has lived in the area for nearly two decades, and has a business background in addition to her experience as a real estate broker.

Pulmonologists Mark C. Pohlman, M.D., and Vincent J. Gimino, M.D., critical care specialists, recently joined The Corvallis Clinic Pulmonary Medicine Department.

Dr. Pohlman and Dr. Gimino specialize in treating patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema and lung disease. Dr. Gimino will also be seeing sleep medicine patients. Both physicians also will serve the local hospital in the intensive care department.

Betty Upington of Corvallis was recently appointed by Meredith Cote, the long-term care ombudsman for the State of Oregon, to serve as a Certified Ombudsman. She will serve as an advocate for the residents of long-term care facilities, helping to ensure the residents receive the best possible care.

Kelly Benoit-Bird, an Oregon State University oceanographer who specializes in the study of marine ecological communities, has been named the 2008 recipient of the American Geophysical Union's Early Career Award for Ocean Sciences.

Benoit-Bird, an assistant professor in OSU's College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences, is the lone recipient of the 2008 award. The AGU's Early Career Award for Ocean Sciences honors a scientist who has made significant contributions to oceanographic sciences and shows a promising future. Recipients must have received their doctorate within the last eight years.

The Institute For Applied Ecology has been selected for the 2008 Best of Corvallis Award in the Environmental Conservation category by the U.S. Local Business Association.

Corvallis Knights team president Dan Segel named Stro Strohmeyer the club's 2008 staff member of the year. Stroh-meyer has worked with the team since its inaugural season in Corvallis. Strohmeyer, the Knights' director of ballpark operations, is responsible for recruiting, hiring and managing the team's intern staff. He also manages merchandising sales and is in charge of the club's event management team.

Greenberry Industrial has earned a 2008 distinguished project award from the Northwest Construction Consumer Council, for the company's work at the TransAlta power plant in Centralia, Wash. The accolades were received in the private projects under $10 million category, and follow on the heels of Greenberry's 2007 NWCCC award for transforming the Port of Everett into a leading cement facility.
