Old Mill Center for Children and families has hired a new occupational therapist, Deborah J. "Debby Jo" Wagner, who recently relocated from California. She has many years of experience in pediatric treatment, specialized training and certification. She is able to provide assessment, treatment and referral for children from birth to 16.

Bob Brown recently joined InsightsNow Inc. as vice president - corporate affairs. He will have responsibility for the company's human resources, facilities and financial management. Bob is a CPA with more than 25 years of executive management experience in technology companies. He served as chief accounting officer of Epic Aviation in Salem and as a director and CFO of Acres Gaming in Corvallis.

InsightsNow Inc., provides consumer and sensory research solutions for consumer brands throughout the product development process.

C. Travis Gray, CFP, has joined together with Michael W. Gray and Kerry Dyer to form Northwest Financial Group, LLC. Travis has been a financial adviser in Corvallis for 11 years and is a certified financial planner. Northwest Financial Group helps clients on financial and retirement planning, asset management, income generation and estate planning.

Jim Huckestein of Albany was recently promoted to vice president of finance and operations at Linn-Benton Community College.

Huckestein has been with the college in various positions since 1992, including serving as director of fiscal and auxiliary services at the college. He serves as chief financial officer for the LBCC Foundation.

Assistant professor Angela Jaime, formerly Angela Baxter of Corvallis, was recently honored at the University of Wyoming's annual College of Education spring award banquet. She received the Award for Outstanding Contributions toward Improving the Climate of the College.

At Wyoming, Jaime has helped establish an American Indian education certificate program and been involved with the American Indian Studies Program, the Wind River Indian Reservation, the American Educational Research Association, and the UW enrollment management committee.

Dr. Vern Saboe Jr., an Albany chiropractor, has been elected president of the American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists. Dr. Saboe's election took place at the group's annual clinical symposium April 11-13, in Carlsbad, Calif. The ACCO, established in 1953, is an international organization dedicated to the advancement of nonsurgical orthopedics. Chiropractic orthopedists serve the public as nonsurgical specialists, as independent experts in medical-legal issues, and as consultants to many state and federal agencies.

Reinvestment

The Pacific Power Foundation has awarded a $3,000 grant to Court Appointed Special Advocates - Voices for Children, in Benton County, and a $3,000 grant to CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocates of Linn County. The grants will be used to help the organizations recruit and train additional volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children.

The funds from the Pacific Power Foundation will allow these two programs to continue to screen and recruit highly qualified volunteers and provide the preservice training that prepares the volunteers to advocate for an abused child.

OSU Federal Credit Union recently donated a used phone system valued at about $100,000 to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital of Lincoln City.

Rather than sell the phone system to a wholesaler, OSU Federal donated the system, which includes the main switch, 250 phones, voice messaging, call-center software and all the equipment needed for 11 remote locations. The hospital anticipates that the new phone system will be installed this spring.

Samaritan Health Services is a network of Oregon hospitals that serve Benton, Lincoln and Linn Counties. OSU Federal is a member-owned, not-for-profit community credit union open to anyone who lives, works or attends school in Benton, Lincoln, Linn, Marion or Polk counties.

Comings and Goings

European company HHCS Handheld Computer Specialists AB is expanding into the United States market with a new subsidiary, HHCS Handheld USA Inc. (Handheld US). The company is located in Corvallis and will be led by President and CEO Dale Kyle. Kyle most recently was the rugged handheld product manager for Tripod Data Systems.

Handheld US produces rugged PDAs, handhelds and tablet computers.
