Officers, directors

Sheriff Diana L. Simpson of the Benton County Sheriff's Office completed participation in and was elected the first female vice president of the 95th session of the National Sheriffs' Institute held in Longmont, Colo., on Sept. 14 through 20.

The National Sheriffs' Institute is the only national executive development program designed for sheriffs. During the NSI 95th session, sheriff Simpson and 29 other sheriffs from across the country discussed homeland security, school violence, court security, leadership, drugs, disaster relief, jail operations and community relations in the current context of increased awareness for public safety.

Corvallis Tourism recently installed its new board of directors. Officers/executive committee members are: Kathleen Petrucela, president; Curtis Wright, vice president; Marcia Gilson, The Wine Vault, secretary; Scott Stoller, Benton County Fairgrounds, treasurer; and Shannon Lynn, OSU Federal Credit Union, past president.

Directors are: Karen Brockett, Oregon Crafted; Dale Donovan, Donovan Guest House; Randy Joss, KEZI; Chris Nusbaum, Salbasgeon Suites & Conference Center; Steve Smith, associate director, CH2M Hill Alumni Center; and Cynthia Spencer-Hadlock, Corvallis Fall Festival.

Additional directors are: Sara Swanberg, The Arts Center; Donna Williams, OSU Conference Services; and Jayson Zimmer, Holiday Inn Express on the River.

Ex-officio directors are: Stewart Wershow, Corvallis City Council liaison; David Gazeley, Citizens Bank; Joan Wessell, executive director, Downtown Corvallis Association.

The Oregon Association of Municipal Recorders recently installed Corvallis city Recorder Kathy Louie as the 2008-09 OAMR president and Philomath city Recorder Ruth Post as 2008-09 OAMR first vice-president.

Louie has been with the City of Corvallis since 1985. In addition to serving on several committees, including chairwoman of the Special Projects/Fundraising Committee and Mentoring and Leadership Development Committee, she also served as first vice president.

Post has previously served as OAMR secretary, second vice-president, and she also served as the Newsletter Committee chairwoman.

OAMR is a professional organization dedicated to promoting governmental relationships and providing educational and training opportunities for more than 200 Oregon city recorders statewide.

Tinsa Schweitzer of RE/MAX Integrity was elected president of the Santiam Board of Realtors on Aug. 10. The Santiam Board is one of more than 1,700 local associations/boards and 54 state and territory associations of realtors which exist to protect consumers, enhance professional expertise, and promote professional cooperation between brokerages.

Comings and goings

RE/MAX Integrity of Corvallis has moved to a new office located at 2175 N.W. Professional Drive. The new facility offers conference rooms with multi-media capability for client demonstrations and broker training as well as additional staffing.

People on the move

Robyn van Rossmann has joined RE/MAX Integrity at the Corvallis office, 365 N.W. Harrison Blvd., as a buyer specialist. Van Rossmann has more than 14 years experience as a private business owner.

Seishiro Hokazono, LAc, MSOM, O.M. recently joined the Corvallis and Albany Heartspring Wellness Centers.

Hokazono is certified as a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and is licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners.

He received undergraduate education in biology and chemistry from the Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, N.M., where he also completed a master's degree in Oriental medicine. Seishiro trained for six months at the TJM Aizawa Clinic in Tokyo, Japan, studying Japanese meridian-style acupuncture, and has a special interest in treating the abdomen and neck. He speaks English, Japanese and Spanish.

Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center customer service education specialist Wendy Santucci recently became the new patient satisfaction coordinator. The position will allow her to work directly with patients and family members, with the goal of visiting each inpatient at least once to address questions, concerns and frustrations.

Santucci has been with Samaritan for two years and has more than five years experience as a patient advocate at a California hospital
