Thursday: "In the Field: Salem Agriculture Seminar," 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Willamette Heritage Center, 1313 Mill St. SE, Salem. No-cost seminar for a discussion specifically designed to provide agribusiness owners and their managers with information they need in today's uncertain regulatory environment. Friday and Saturday: Oregon Law Enforcement Career Fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days, Oregon Public Safety Academy, 4190 Aumsville Highway SE, Salem. More than three dozen agencies will be on hand. Law enforcement agencies around the state are looking to hire more than 500 qualified men and women from diverse backgrounds to fill sworn and non-sworn positions at city, county, state, tribal, university and federal law enforcement agencies. Positions include police, corrections, parole and probation officers; 911 operators; forensic scientists; community service officers; nurses; crime scene technicians; analysts; and others. Saturday: Free Community Shred Day, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Linn County Fairgrounds, 3700 Knox Butte Road E., Albany. Bring up to three boxes of outdated documents such as old checks or outdated materials with personal information. Documents will be securely shredded onsite, with easy drive-and-drop in the parking lot through 1 p.m. or until the shred trucks are full. Bring canned foods to donate to Linn Benton Food Share.

May 9: "The Art of Starting a Business," 6 p.m., Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. The workshop will guide participants through an exploratory process leading to answers that can help clarify your vision to make an intelligent decision before investing your time and resources in a business project.
