Kidney clinic adds doctor
Anthony De Mory recently joined Samaritan Health Services, providing care to patients of Samaritan Kidney Specialists in Albany, Corvallis and Newport.
De Mory earned bachelor’s degrees from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and a medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker Medical School. He completed residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in nephrology at the University of Chicago Hospital.
De Mory has worked as a kidney specialist for more than 20 years.
DCA names design winners
The Downtown Corvallis Association recently recognized member businesses for making outstanding contributions to downtown spaces that are accessible to the public.
At the Dec. 7 Downtown After Hours event at the Inkwell Home Store, Castor, a new restaurant, won the grand prize for Best Interior Conversion. Restyle Home won Best Interior Retail Presentation. Sidecar and Benny’s Donuts took the prize for Best Interior Restoration; Studio Cloud 9 for Excellence in Space Transformation; and Civic Beautification & Urban Forestry for Downtown Beautification.
Each nominee received a certificate for its successful project. Castor received the annual grand prize award, a crystal obelisk.
The DCA Design Committee members nominated businesses and voted on the winners.
Broker joins realty office
RE/MAX Integrity recently announced that Bernadene Adams, licensed broker, has joined the firm’s Corvallis office at 2175 NW Professional Drive.
Adams joins RE/MAX Integrity alongside her daughter, Vanessa Gardner. She is a Willamette Valley native with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in management and information systems. She spent some of her time in between schooling as a bartender. RE/MAX Integrity has six offices and 275 Realtors providing real estate listing and sales services in Salem, Corvallis, Albany, Eugene, Grants Pass, Medford and surrounding regions.

Menswear shop receives award
The Natty Dresser in downtown Albany recently was awarded Silver Elite Retailer of the Year status by Jim's Formal Wear.
This is the third year in a row the Natty Dresser has been honored by the company, and the first year it attained Silver Elite Status. Jim's is the largest formalwear distribution network in the United States, with more than 5,000 retailers. Jim’s provides tuxedo rental services for weddings, proms and black-tie events.
Since opening in 2014, the Natty Dresser has been providing tuxedos through Jim’s. The award is based on rental volume, order accuracy and customer service.

Audiologist cited for research
Ron Leavitt, audiologist at Corvallis Hearing Center, and his colleagues, Ruth Bentler, chair of University of Iowa Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences; and Carol Flexer, former president of the American Academy of Audiology and professor emeritus at the University of Akron, have been awarded Best of Audiology Research 2017 by The Hearing Review journal.
In an article in the journal, these authors show how pervasive insufficient hearing aid programming is in health care facilities across Oregon. They also offer evidence supporting consistent use of best science practices in hearing aid programming.
