receives national
dental award

John D. Rugh of the Corvallis High School Class of 1959 received the American Dental Association’s 2016 National Evidence-Based Dentistry Award for accomplished faculty.

The educational program for which Rugh was honored has been adopted in many of the nation’s dental schools and includes an online searchable database (https://cats.uthscsa.edu) that has become a worldwide resource for up-to-date, evidence-based oral health information.

Rugh received a doctorate from the University of California in 1975 and is a professor in the School of Dentistry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he joined the faculty in 1977. He has served as president of the American Association for Dental Research and in 1995 he received the Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Association for Dental Research.

deputy graduates
from academy

Deputy Sheriff Kyle Resnik of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office graduated last April 21 at the Oregon Public Safety Academy in Salem as part of Basic Corrections Local No. BCL026.

The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training provides training to more than 25,000 students each year throughout Oregon and at the Oregon Public Safety Academy in Salem certifies qualified officers at various levels from basic through executive; certifies qualified instructors; and reviews and accredits training programs throughout the state based on standards established by the board.

Broker joins
real estate firm

RE/MAX Integrity has announced that licensed Broker Dawn De Garmo recently joined the firm’s Corvallis office at 2175 NW Professional Drive.

De Garmo is a veteran Realtor who previously worked for another local brokerage.
