It’s 4-20, bro, do you know where your show is?

For some people, 4-20 is Hitler's birthday, and for other's it's the pothead's equivalent of Cinco de Mayo. Hey, we didn't make this up, we're just reporting the phenomenon. Even if the date means absolutely nothing to you, which is probably for the best, it's still hard to deny the massive amount of great concerts that have sprung up around this day from Portland to Corvallis. Just in case you're planning on leaving the house this weekend, we offer the following suggestions.

4-20

The Badfish Band - Johnny D. and company once again pound the shore of your eardrums with their surf-friendly cocktail of funk, Hawaiian reggae, rock and just about every other kind of party music ever invented. If you like Sublime or Natural Vibrations, this is the show for you. 9:30, Bombs Away Cafe, $5

Hell's Belles - What could be more kick-ass than the down and dirty rock and roll of Angus Young, Brian Johnson and the rest of the high-voltage crew blasting through thoroughly id-based songs such as "Back in Black" and "You Shook Me All Night Long"? How about four tough chicas that play the same exact songs but look a whole lot better doing it? Hell's Belles have earned a reputation as the premiere interpreter's of AC/DC's music, and there's a damn good reason. Find out what that is at Platinum at 8 p.m. $12.

Walk the Plank - The trio of Mark France (Minus, El Kabong Orchestra), Page Hundemer (The Tonesharks) and Brian Bucolo (Calobo) hasn't been playing together long, so we can't tell you exactly what they sound like, other than it probably includes complex beats, an awesome, angular approach to guitar and bass playing that would make Cecil McBee proud. What else do you need to know? Despite the name, this isn't pirate rock, but word has it that it will still set your sails on fire. 8 p.m., Sahalie Wine Cellars, Free.

Will Bernard, Eleven Eyes - The only former member of jazz cover specialists T.J. Kirk that hasn't yet become a household name is joined by the valley's favorite purveyors of Afrocubandubrockjazzfusionmusic. It should be a night for any and all fans of progressive jazz and funky pulses, and besides, where would you rather be on 4-20 than Eugene, bro? Wait, don't answer that question. 8:30 p.m., WOW Hall, $12.

4-21

Solid Gold, Dispossessed, Sleepwalkers RIP, Muckraker - Think of this as the antidote to 4-20, a night of cilia-blasting rock, punk and hardcore. Solid Gold is yet another "super group," bringing together members of Tourist, The Latch Hook Robots and Blood on the Banjo into a mix that is sure to go straight to the top of the charts. Dispossessed and Sleepwalker RIP travel down from Portland and Muckraker continues to churn out its noisy, chaotic amalgamation of sludge, speed and bad attitudes. 9:30 p.m., Fox & Firkin, $3.

Matthew Otten, The Comforters - If you like your music a bit wamer and fuzzier, perhaps served up with a reverence for Big Star and classic rock and folk harmonies, Sahalie dips into the sweet pop goodness of Matthew Otten and acoustic duo The Comforters. 8 p.m., Sahalie Wine Cellars, Free.

4-22

Air - This French duo changed the face of make-out music with the sublime soup of spacey electronics, head-bobbing beats and sweet-nothing vocals that was "Moon Safari." Nearly a decade later, they're still churning out music to eat croissants and make love to, and on Sunday, they bring their Pink Floyd-esque live show to Portland's Crystal Ballroom at 9 p.m. $27.50

Trans Am, Zombi, Black Taj - If you only see one show this weekend, don't make it this one, because we'd be totally bummed if it sold out. Thrill Jockey mainstays Trans Am are one of the most explosive live bands touring, period. Mixing dense, driving rhythms with Krautrock-influence aural marzipan and more vocoder and talk box than Peter Frampton would know what to do with, Trans Am is a band to behold. Not that Zombi is anybody to shake a stick at, either, especially not if it's already agitated. This two-headed beast of drums and vintage synths nearly blew Don Caballero off the stage at the Doug Fir last time, so make sure to update your will before going through the door. 8 p.m., Doug Fir Lounge, $12.

4-23

Finally, it's Monday, and if you're one of the lucky ones that doesn't have to go back to work, D.J. Shadow spins at the Crystal Ballroom and Japanese phenom Cornelius takes the Wonder Ballroom into the outer realms of experience. See the venues' Web sites for more information.
