The WVCO, conducted by Music Director Sean Paul Mills, is a volunteer, community-based orchestra. Many of the WVCO's players also perform with the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, the Oregon Mozart Players, the Corvallis-OSU Symphony, the Newport Symphony, the Oregon Coast Music Festival Orchestra and other regional orchestras and bands.

Joining the WVCO as soloist for the Mendelssohn concerto is Corvallis pianist Michael Sheng. Currently a senior at Crescent Valley High School, Sheng has won numerous piano awards in competitions and is an equally accomplished violinist. He is the concertmaster of the Corvallis Youth Symphony and the Corvallis Camerata.
