CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University forensics team (speech and debate) will host its third annual public debate against the British national debate team on Wednesday, Oct. 7, in the Withycombe Hall lab theater on campus.
The topic for the debate is the legalization of recreational drugs. The event, which is free and open to the public, will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
"This event helps to increase our visibility on campus," said Mark Porrovecchio, director of the OSU forensics team. "We hope that it will attract more students to speech and debate. It is once again an honor to host an internationally recognized debate team."
The OSU team will be represented by sophomore Loni Sturm and senior Forest Ledbetter. Graduate assistant coach Dan Torres will serve as moderator.
