Linn-Benton Community College presents its "Totally Inspired" Eclipse Festival, starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at the main campus, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
The cost is $5 at the door. Kids under 18, campers, and current LBCC students will be admitted free.
The event features family-friendly activities and more than 20 booths, including water rocketry, slime making, barrel imploding, bed-of-nails demo, exploding bucket, burning salts, fire breathing, star gazing, liquid nitrogen ice cream and more. Food will be available for purchase.
The Russell Tripp Performance Center will have a variety of performances and demonstrations from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. These include eclipse science, history, and safe eclipse viewing practices, a weather briefing, LBCC remotely operated vehicles and high altitude balloons in action, the life and death of stars, variable stars, and a performance by the rock band Up Rising.
People who have purchased camping accommodations from LBCC will have a Monday morning breakfast where eclipse viewing glasses will be provided. Those camping slots have sold out.
