Shook Twins

The Shook Twins (along with, most likely, their golden egg) return to Corvallis to perform a sold-out show Saturday night at the Majestic Theatre.

There must be something meaningful about the number 2 to sisters Katelyn and Laurie Shook, better known as the Shook Twins.

After all, "2" is the title of the band's newest EP. It features the two identical twins as vocalists using only two instruments. Katelyn plays the guitar, while Laurie plays banjo.

And when the Portland indie folk-pop group returns Saturday night for a concert at the Majestic Theatre, it will be exactly two years since their last performance in Corvallis. The show is sold out.

The Shook Twins are joined on stage by guitarist Niko Daoussis. They have also added to their lineup Josh Simon on bass, vocals and synthesizers, and drummer Barra Brown.

The twins' golden egg is also certain to make a guest appearance. The giant golden egg started out as a performance art piece given to the sisters in Seattle years ago. Laurie Shook turned the egg into a percussion instrument that group uses during performances.

Audience members will likely be treated songs from the new EP, and may even hear songs from the band's next album, "Some Good Lives." It was reportedly recorded with the full band, and is expected to be released later this year.
