PHILOMATH - Fans of last year's auction are eagerly awaiting this year's offerings, which include weekend getaways at the coast, several private wine-tasting tours and family memberships to the Portland Children's Musuem and the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport.

The auction benefits Philomath Montessori School, providing scholarships and educational materials. Last year's event attracted more than 100 friendly bidding rivals in a casual and family-friendly atmosphere.

This year's auction starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Clemens Primary School in Philomath. The silent auction runs until 7:15 p.m. After that, a live auction will run until 8:45 p.m.

There's something for everyone: gym memberships and spa packages, as well as meals at local restaurants, hair stylings, home items and children's toys. For businesspeople, a series of 30-second commercial spots on talk-radio station KGAL will be up for bids. There's even a ton of organically grown hay from a local farm. Details on the items to be auctioned off are at: www.PhilomathMontessori.org/events.htm.

The $5 charge for adults covers the catered food, desserts, coffee and live entertainment from Wild Hog in the Woods. Kids are welcome at no cost and there will be child care, including games, pizza and snacks, along with storytelling and Slightly Illusional magic by Curt Nelson.
