A review of "Mediterranean Summer: A Season on France's Cote D'Azur and Italy's Costa Bella" by David Shalleck will be presented by Jacque Schreck at noon, Wednesday, at the Corvallis-Benton County Library, 645 N.W. Monroe Ave.

Chef David Shalleck invites readers along when he takes on the challenge of cooking for an Italian couple aboard their yacht, traveling to ports along the French and Italian coasts. Shalleck's skills are put to the test when he is called upon not only to prepare elaborate meals and banquets from the ship's tiny galley but also to lend a hand furling sails and standing watch.
Jacque Schreck, Corvallis First Citizen in 2007, is an avid traveler, especially to Italy and France. She is very active in the Corvallis community, serving as chair of the Capital Improvement Program Commission and on the board of the library, Friends of the Library, Corvallis Budget Commission, and the Assistance League. She is past president of Friends of the Library and a former Corvallis city councilor.
