Marcus Borg will speak on "Christianity Misunderstood" from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 6) at First Presbyterian Church, 114 S.W. Eighth St.

Borg will talk about the misunderstandings that surround and shape the image of Christianity in the world today.

He is Canon Theologian at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland, and one of the best-known theologians of the New Testament. He is internationally known in both academic and church circles as a biblical and Jesus scholar.

Borg retired after a career as a professor that included serving as Hundere Chair of Religion and Culture in the Philosophy Department at Oregon State University. He is the author of 18 books, the latest being "The First Paul."
