Oregon Ducks and OSU Beavers will pay tribute to deployed Oregon National Guard soldiers of the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team at today's game.
Players will wear a small decal of the unit's "sunset patch" on their helmets as a tribute. About 3,000 National Guard soldiers are currently serving a year-long deployment in Iraq.
Prior to the start of the game, the athletic directors of both schools will present a game ball autographed by both teams' head coaches to Governor Ted Kulongoski.
Members of the Oregon Army National Guard's Youth Challenge Program are scheduled to participate as the official color guard during opening ceremonies.
