LEBANON - The Lebanon School Board will meet in closed session Monday but intends to reconvene in regular session to "consider an action item regarding the superintendent."

The closed session begins at 6 p.m. at the district office, 485 S. Fifth St.

Government entities are allowed by law to meet behind closed doors for limited reasons. This session has been called for two issues: "to consult with counsel concerning the legal rights and duties of a public body with regard to current litigation or litigation likely to be filed," and "to consider records exempt by law from public inspection."

The board has consulted with its legal counsel on more than one issue recently.

In June, Vice Chairman Rick Alexander asked for a closed session to speak with the school district's lawyer about a potential buyout of Superintendent Jim Robinson's contract. Board members met in such a session in August to discuss the question but took no action following the meeting.

In July, Robinson filed a tort claim against Alexander and Chairman Josh Wineteer, alleging interference with his contract. That, too, has been the subject for closed sessions.
