Thursday: The Business Enterprise Center, 1965 S.W. Airport Ave., will host "Update on Financial Local Lending Programs for Small Business" from noon to 1 p.m. in its conference room. Speaker: Brenda Baze, loan officer, Cascade West Financial Services Inc. She will give an update on local lending programs, how to apply for local funding, government and bank programs, and structuring loans from other project sources for injection or match. Friday: The second annual Salute to Our Vets, Apprenticeship Opportunities and Benefits Information Fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Central Electrical Training Center, 33309 Highway 99E, Tangent. The event will provide information about apprenticeship opportunities to veterans. Although focused on returning military veterans, the event is open to the general public. The fair will feature representatives from electrical, plumbing, carpentry, cement masonry, painting and Linn-Benton Community College apprenticeship programs. Each representative will present in-depth information regarding training and employment opportunities. In addition, representatives from the Veterans Administration and the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs will be on hand to offer information on benefits available to veterans and their family members. Nov. 16: Two free phlebotomy program orientations will be offered through Linn-Benton Community College. Orientation times and dates are 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 16, or 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 2, in Room CC-212, second floor, the LBCC College Center. No preregistration is required. Attendance at one of the orientations is mandatory to register for the program. The 15-week phlebotomist training will start Feb. 16, and run through May 28. Cost of the program is $3,500. The program is eligible for financial aid. Check the LBCC Web site for course prerequisites at www.linnbenton.edu/go/forms. Nov. 17: QuickBooks Payroll class offered by the Small Business Development Center at Linn-Benton Community College, begins Room F202 of the Albany campus, and continues Nov. 24 and Dec. 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost is $145, which includes all materials. Call 917-4923 to reserve space.
