Corvallis has a new advertising slogan: "Corvallis, Oregon - the Pacific Northwest's most beautiful college town, just off the beaten path."
The sales pitch was unveiled Thursday by John Hope-Johnstone, chief executive officer of Corvallis Tourism, at a travel industry conference at Oregon State University. It will be used as a tagline in promotional materials aimed at attracting more visitors to the city.
Hope-Johnstone told attendees at the fourth annual Corvallis & Benton County Tourism Think Tank that the new slogan plays on the city's old-fashioned charm.
"A growing number of people are coming here because they just want to get a look at a college town that looks like the kind of college town they remember."
