Corvallis grad wrote screenplay for 2007's 'Ratatouille'

Corvallis-raised Academy award-winning animator Phillip "Brad" Bird might soon have to make some room in his trophy case. His film "Ratatouille" has received five Oscar nominations. The 2007 full-length animated movie features a gourmet chef who is a rat. In addition to his original screenplay, the film was nominated for best animated feature, sound mixing, sound editing and score.

Bird, who graduated from Corvallis High School in 1975, won Oscars for best original screenplay and best animated feature for his 2005 animated film, "The Incredibles," about a family of superheros.

ABC is planning to air the 80th Academy Awards ceremony Sunday, Feb. 24, regardless of whether the Hollywood writers' guild has settled its strike with the producers.
