A 54-year old man died Thursday morning after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into the center cable barrier along Interstate 5 about one mile north of Brooks, according to the Oregon State Police.
Next of kin have not been notified so his name and residence information have been withheld. A vehicle of interest that may have been a factor in this crash was located in Portland and the investigation is continuing.
The OSP provided these details:
At approximately 9:15 a.m., a touring-style motorcycle pulling a trailer was northbound on Interstate 5 in the left lane near milepost 264. According to witnesses another vehicle moved in front of the motorcycle causing its operator to lose control, veer into the center median and crash into the cable barrier.
The motorcycle operator, who was wearing a protective helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witness information regarding the vehicle that reportedly moved in front of the motorcycle helped Oregon State Police troopers locate it in the Portland area.
The investigation is continuing and no enforcement action has been taken.
ODOT and local fire personnel assisted at the scene. The left northbound lane was closed until 1:25 p.m. during the on-scene investigation.
