The Buy Local Breakfast Series returns to Corvallis this weekend.
Now in its third year, the event showcases locally produced foods while providing a venue for area businesses to introduce their wares to potential customers.
The first of three breakfasts takes place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Odd Fellows Hall, 223 S.W. Second St. Two more will follow at the same time and location on June 6 and July 4.
The menu features pancakes with locally grown fruit syrup, a tofu scramble with seasonal veggies, Nancy's yogurt, Carmen's corn tortillas, Turtle Mountain's So Delicious Coconut Yogurt, and coffee and baked goods from local providers.
In keeping with a tradition of celebrity pancake chefs, Gazette-Times Publisher Mike McInally will be flipping flapjacks this Saturday.
A number of businesses and nonprofits will be on hand to connect with area residents, and local musicians will perform.
"We have local food, local entertainment and local business," said Country Vitamins owner Pat Sardell, one of this year's organizers. "It's a real local-yokel event."
Breakfast costs $6 for adults and $4 for kids 12 and under. Discount coupons are available at participating businesses.
The Buy Local Breakfast Series is sponsored by the Corvallis Independent Business Alliance, First Alternative Natural Foods Co-op and the Corvallis Odd Fellows Lodge.
