Wednesday

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO ARREST FOR ASSAULT - 7 p.m., 200 block of North 13th Street, Philomath. A deputy stopped a 28-year-old Philomath woman for a minor traffic infraction. She was crying and upset, and she told the deputy her boyfriend had assaulted her. The deputy investigated and arrested James Barrett, 28, of Philomath and charged him with fourth degree assault and strangulation, both Class A misdemeanors. Barrett remains in custody in the Benton County jail.

Thursday

LIED TO DEPUTY - 200 block of North 13th Street, Philomath. A deputy charged a 27-year-old man with hindering prosecution, a Class A misdemeanor, for allegedly lying about the whereabouts of James Barrett who the deputy believed had assaulted his girlfriend.

Friday

DROVE OFF ROAD - 12:40 p.m., Bellfountain Road near Southwest Airport Avenue. A 22-year-old Philomath woman said she was driving south on Bellfountain Road when a bee flew into her car and distracted her. She crashed through a fence and drove about 100 feet into a field.

Saturday

CAUGHT WHILE FISHING - 11 p.m., Monroe City Park. Four deputies approached Katrina Ohl, 28, of Springfield, and a friend as they were fishing in the park. On running a check for outstanding warrants, deputies arrested Ohl on a warrant out of Arkansas for writing hot checks. She remains in custody in the Benton County jail.

Thursday

SHOPLIFTING - 11 p.m., 5270 Southwest Philomath Boulevard. The night manager of the Safeway store called police when three boys, ages, 16, 15 and 14, were spotted leaving the store with items they hadn't paid for. The items were, a bottle of A&W rootbeer, a package of sushi and a bottle of Smirnoff watermelon flavored vodka. The boys returned to the store and paid for the rootbeer and the sushi. The vodka was returned. Police called the parents, all Corvallis residents, and the boys were turned over to them.

Sunday

STOLEN CAR - 5:30 a.m., 1000 block of Northwest Ninth Street. An Oregon State Police trooper found an abandoned 2004 Volkswagen Jetta on Marys Peak Hill. The owner, a 21-year-old Corvallis woman, unaware it had been stolen during the night, was notified early Sunday morning when Corvallis Police asked her to sign a stolen car report so the car could be returned to her.

Over the weekend

GLUED - Time unknown, 1825 N.W. 27th St. An unknown suspect superglued 12 outside door locks at Jefferson School. The estimated damage is about $1,500.
