Unidentified man found near Springhill Road
Gazette-Times
The unidentified body of a man was found Wednesday afternoon in the Willamette River near Springhill Road in North Albany.
Benton County Sheriff Diana Simpson said a caller reported the body about 3:30 p.m. She described it as that of a man between the ages of 35 and 50, wearing cut-off blue jeans.
Deputies from Benton and Linn counties put boats on the water and recovered the body about four miles downstream from Highway 20. It may have been in the water for several days, Simpson said. There were no apparent signs of trauma, but an autopsy was scheduled for today in the hope of determining identity and the cause of death.
Deputies found no identification, and there have been no local missing persons reports along the river.
Anyone with information related to the discovery is asked to call Benton County detective Rick Fontaine at 766-6858.
