The Corvallis Multicultural Literacy Center and the Oregon State University International Cultural Service Program are partnering with the National Geographic Society to invite school-age children and their families to a celebration of cultures and geography tonight at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 N.W. Monroe Ave.
The event, part of Geography Awareness Week, includes booths staffed by OSU students from Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Costa Rica, Japan, Brazil, China and Sri Lanka.
The OSU students will offer presentations throughout the evening along with a display of the historic Silk Road maps and cultures.
The theme of this year's National Geographic-sponsored week is "Mapping the Americas."
During the evening, families can contribute to making a floor map of North, Central, and South America using National Geographic maps.
The event is free. It begins at 6:30 p.m.
