THE STORY: Oregon State University Extension Services released the university’s first licensed app in January. It provides users with a self-guided tour of trees on campus, based on Extension Services’ popular book, “Trees to Know in Oregon.” The free app can be used on an Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

THE LATEST: Chris LaBelle of the Extension and Experiment Station Communications office said the app has had 300 downloads. Users who have rated the app have given it 4.5 out of 5 stars. The app can be downloaded at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/osu-campus-tree-tour/id414786995?mt8#.
