Sections of the National AIDS Quilt will be shown at Oregon State University March 3 through 5 in the Memorial Union Ballroom. The pieces will be displayed to raise awareness of the threat that HIV/AIDS poses to college students.

The National AIDS Quilt is a collection of quilt sections each made by a loved one in memory of a person who has died of HIV/AIDS complications. The project began in the late 1980s, and now includes more than 44,000 quilt sections memorializing 84,000 people, about 10 percent of AIDS related deaths in America.

The presentation will take place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days. Tuesday there will be confidential, free needless testing for HIV, provided by Benton County Health.

Three speakers also will come to OSU during the event. Margo Denison, director of Valley AIDS Information Network, will talk about her daughter's struggle with AIDS at noon Tuesday. Dr. Thomas Rafalski, an Albany HIV/AIDS specialist, will present the logistics of HIV/AIDS at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Guy Johnson from the Cascade AIDS Project will discuss his life experiences and how HIV/AIDS has affected him, at noon Wednesday.
