Because of the length of these listings, they are being published over several days. Published below are the candidate listings for the fire districts in Benton and Linn counties:
Adair Rural Fire Protection District
Position 3, 4-year term
Dick Green, 37032 Moss Rock Drive, Corvallis. He is a retired high school teacher and has a master's degree in education from Oregon State University. He is a current board member.
Position 4, 4-year term
Mary Hardenbrook, 38190 Hwy. 99W, Corvallis. She is a retired office administrator and a Corvallis High School graduate.
Position 5, 4-year term
Frances Harris, 29056 Harvey Lane, Corvallis. She is a legal secretary. She graduated from Yamhill-Carlton High School and has a bachelor's degree from OSU.
Alsea Rural Fire Protection District
Position 1, 4-year term
Chris Tine Leavitt, 18364 Van Horn Road, Alsea. She is a teacher's assistant in the Alsea School District. She attended Peninsula High School and Clover-Park Community College. Leavitt has served on the fire board since 2005.
Position 2, 4-year term
Grant Laiblin, 17180 Alsea Hwy., Alsea. He is the retired former owner of Willamette Hose and Fitting and the Northwest Fire Wagon. He graduated from Sitka High School and Linn-Benton Community College in business and has served on the fire board since 2008.
Position 3, 4-year term
Gary Strom, 17895 Alsea Hwy., Alsea. He is retired from Strom Contract Cutting Inc. Strom graduated from Alsea High School.
Position 5, 2-year unexpired term
Kevin Weist, 19592 Alsea Hwy., Alsea. He is a logging contractor and a graduate of Alsea High School. He is the current chairman of the fire district board.
Blodgett-Summit Rural Fire Protection District
Position 3, 4-year term
Margaret Clark, 21445 Hwy. 20, Blodgett. She works at the Pioneer Telephone Company and is a Philomath High School graduate. She is a current board member.
Position 4, 4-year term
James Damitio, 35020 Tum Tum Road, Philomath. He is a federal background administrator and a retired U.S. Forest Service special agent and former Washington State police officer. He graduated from Tumwater High School and has a bachelor's degree in police science from Washington State University.
He has served on the fire board since 2005, serves on the Philomath School Board, served on the Philomath School District budget committee and was on the Benton County Planning Commission.
Position 5, 4-year term
T. Paul Adams, 37676 Marys River Road, Blodgett. He is a retired rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He has a bachelor's degree in sociology from Knox College. He currently serves on the board.
Corvallis Rural Fire Protection District
Position 1, 4-year term
Thomas Nelson, 5285 N.W. Belhaven Drive, Corvallis. Retired from Wah Chang, Albany. He has bachelor's degree from Penn State University and a master's degree from the University of Utah. He is the board chairman.
Position 2, 4-year term
Howard Jones, 5125 N.W. Crescent Valley Drive, Corvallis. He is a marine biologist who holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Western Washington State University. He serves on the fire district budget committee.
Hoskins-Kings Valley Rural Fire Protection District
Position 2, 2-year unexpired term
Ted Baker, 38088 Kings Valley Hwy., Philomath. He is a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
Position 3, 4-year term
Julia Jane Brandenburg, 37276 Kings Valley Hwy., Philomath. Served five years as fire district board member and budget chairwoman.
Position 4, 4-year term
Betsy Boren, Box 1652, Philomath. She is a Registered Nurse who holds an associate's degree in nursing from Linn-Benton Community College. She serves on the fire board
Position 5, 4-year term
Deborah Montgomery, 37571 Kings Valley Hwy., Philomath. She is a 20-year volunteer with the fire protection district. She has an EMT Intermediate and EMT Basic certificates from Linn-Benton Community College.
Monroe Rural Fire Protection District
Position 1, 4-year term
George Daugherty, 694 Main, Monroe. Retired from the Monroe School District. He is a Monroe Union High School graduate. Currently serves on the board.
Dave Rainey, 25064 Bull Run Road, Monroe. Employed at Hull Oakes Lumber Company. He graduated from Monroe High School and currently serves on the board.

North Albany Rural Fire Protection District
Position 1, 4-year term
Michael Derocher, 4020 N.W. Camala Drive, Albany. He is a design manager at Hewlett-Packard. He graduated from Oxford Area Community High School and has a bachelor's of fine arts degree in industrial design from the University of Michigan. He served on the Corvallis Planning Commission and the Benton County Rural Fire District board of directors.
Position 2, 4-year term
Mike McLain, 2920 N.W. Scenic Drive, Albany. Self-employed real estate broker. He is an Albany Union High School graduate and studied at Lane Community College and the University of Oregon. He has served on the fire board for 16 years.
Palestine Rural Fire Protection District
Position 1, 4-year term
J. David Abrams, 5098 N.W. Springhill Drive, Albany. He is retired after 35 years of farming. He has a bachelor's degree in business information systems from Linfield College.
Position 2, 4-year term
Roger Biegel, 784 Independence Hwy. N.W. He has an associate's degree in diesel technology from the Oregon Institute of Technology.
Philomath Fire and Rescue District
Position 1, 4-year term
Thomas Ries, 3233 Chapel Drive, Corvallis. Retired director of facilities for the Philomath School District. Graduate of Vista High School, has an associate's degree from Palomar Junior College and a bachelor's degree from OSU. He currently serves on the board.
Position 2, 4-year term
Ruth Jacobs, 7115 S.W. Deerhaven Drive, Corvallis. She has a bachelor's degree in fisheries and wildlife biology from Iowa State University and a master's degree in wildlife biology from OSU.
Position 3, 4-year term
Angie Baca, 1036 Main, Philomath. She is an office manager at Marys Peak True Value. She serves on the city council and the fire board. She graduated from Leesville High School and studied at Orange Coast Community College, Contra Costa Community College and Linn-Benton Community College.
