Corvallis native Joshua Hough, now a volunteer with Christian Peacemaker Teams, will describe volunteer work in occupied Palestine at a fund-raiser at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Friends Meeting House, 3311 N.W. Polk Ave., in Corvallis.

Hough volunteered last winter in the village of At-Tuwani in South Hebron Hills in the Israeli-occupied West Bank of Palestine.

As a member of Peacemaker Teams, he helped protect Palestinian school children, shepherds and farmers from Israeli settler violence.

Early in September he will head back to At-Tuwani for three months of volunteer work.

The fund-raiser, open to the public, will help defray his expenses. Those attending will be treated to Middle Eastern appetizers and desserts and to Arabic coffee.

The event is sponsored by Corvallis/Albany Friends of Middle East Peace, Salem-Palestinian Support Group, Albany Peace Seekers and the Albany Mennonite Church.
