Assault: 3:31 p.m., 2400 block Southeast Third Street, Corvallis. A man had reportedly struck a woman in the head with a coffee cup and fled their residence on his bicycle. An officer stayed with the woman, who felt dizzy, as another officer searched for the man. The suspect was found and arrested for assault and interfering with making a report, after police determined the man had disconnected the phone in an attempt to keep the woman from calling the police. The man was lodged at the Benton County jail. There was no information on the extent of the woman's injuries or if she had been taken to the hospital.

Disturbance: 10:34 p.m., 1700 block McBee Road, Philomath. Two deputies, two Corvallis officers and a Philomath officer responded to a report of yelling and shooting on McBee Road. The officers found three men, who said that raccoons were attacking one of the men's cats. One of the men fired a weapon at the raccoon to protect the cat. Officers determined that there had been no crime and departed. No information was available on the status of the raccoons or the cat.
