The Vina Moses Center is looking for businesses, organizations, clubs, youth groups and others to participate in its annual Christmas program, which provides food boxes and gifts to families.
The Vina Moses Center serves low-income families and individuals living in Benton County: Corvallis, North Albany, Philomath, Alsea and Monroe.
Last year, the program served 3,925 people, including 1,100 families and 1,872 children.
This year's distribution and delivery will take place Dec. 15-16. Assembly of the boxes starts on Dec. 8.
Ways volunteers can participate include:
• Food drives to collect nonperishable foods
• Toy drives to collect gifts for children, including giving trees. Trees provided by Vina Moses are decorated with tags telling the age and gender of a child.
• Adopt a Family, in which volunteers fulfill the needs of a local family. Or they can sponsor a family through a $45 donation, although cash donations in any amount are appreciated.
• Raising money to buy perishable foods such as turkeys, chickens, eggs and butter.
• Helping to sort food, pack food baskets, make gift baskets and distribute them.
For more information, call the Vina Moses Center at 753-1420.
