Oregon State University football is an annual rite of the fall, with friends and family members returning to Corvallis to watch the Beavers take on their opponents.

But nothing stops a good time like being kicked out of the stadium, or being busted by police.

Here are some tips to stay off the radar of stadium security officers and present for the whole game.

• Don't take alcohol into Reser Stadium, because there's a good chance you'll get kicked out. Oregon State Police keep the stands under surveillance themselves, directing security officers to specific offenders. Surveillance cameras also are trained on the audience to spot people who are drinking or disorderly. About 35 people get the boot every home game, most for sneaking in beer or liquor.

• If you get kicked out, don't go back in. A few people are cited for trespassing every year.

• Those kicked out of Reser Stadium could be excluded for the football season or for all athletic events that school year.

• Those older than 21 can drink openly on campus at tailgating events. But if you're walking down Monroe Avenue, or anywhere else off campus, you could be cited for having an open container.

• Lawn parking is illegal in Corvallis, and the car owner, not the property owner, could end up with a $45 ticket. Last year, only warnings were issued, and education will be the focus again during the first game this year. Tickets could be issued, however. The ordinance applies only to front yards and yards visible from a street. Some back yards, fields and orchards might be legal.

• Parking enforcement primarily will be on vehicles parked in a way that poses a safety hazards, such as those blocking sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes and fire hydrants.
