School is almost out, and young people in the Corvallis area looking to find some fun need not miss out because they don't have a ride.
Starting June 1, children age 17 and younger can ride the Corvallis Transit System and Philomath Connection for free, courtesy of a generous donation from Allied Waste. The program lasts until Monday, Sept. 7.
Not only does the program offer kids free rides but certificates for smoothies, pizza, bowling, movie and game rentals, swimming passes and ice cream.
Kids get a stamp on a card each time they ride, and their filled card (12 rides) is entered in weekly drawings. At the end of the summer, all cards will be entered in a drawing to win a free MP3 player. Cards can be picked up on the buses, at Corvallis City Hall or Philomath City Hall.
For more information on the summer program, call 766-6916. For information about routes and schedules for the transit system, call 766-6998.
