Gary Lee Wilt, 68, of Monroe died in a single-car accident Thursday evening. The accident occurred on Cherry Creek Road about a mile south of the intersection with Coon Road near Monroe, according to Lt. Greg Ridler of the Benton County Sheriff's Office. Wilt was northbound on Cherry Creek Road when his Ford Bronco went off the road and he was ejected from the vehicle. He was found nearby.
A 911 call was received at about 4:30 p.m. Sgt. Loretta Robinson was the first on the scene. She reported finding Wilt with no pulse, and paramedics, who arrived minutes later, pronounced him dead at the scene.
Ridler said there was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement in the incident. The investigation continues.
