It does not include all calls for service. The status of incidents may change after further investigation. Locations are approximate. People arrested or suspected in crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

Monday, Aug. 4

Burglary: 9:48 a.m., 400 block Northwest Quarry Road, Albany. A man reported that someone stole a rototiller from an open shed on his property. The owner, who operates a self-serve farm stand that sells eggs, said several people come and go on his property, and he did not have any idea who would have stolen it.

Burglary: 7:28 p.m., 900 block Northwest Hobart Avenue, Corvallis. A woman entered the home of another woman and attacked her and her male friend. The attacker told an officer she was upset that the other woman was accusing her of stealing some marijuana and that it was "the last straw." Both victims had visible scratches. The assailant was arrested for burglary and assault.

Warrant arrest: 12:07 p.m., 9200 block Northwest Cardwell Hill Drive, Corvallis. Three deputies responded to a report of a vehicle crash and discovered a moving van and trailer stuck in the road and trying to turn around. One passenger was an Alsea man on parole for murder from Multnomah County. The man admitted to consuming alcohol, a violation of his parole, and was arrested by request of his parole officer. He was taken to the Benton County Jail.

Tuesday, Aug. 5

Curfew violation: 5:04 a.m., 600 block Northwest 11th Street, Corvallis. Three boys, ages 14 to 16, were cited for being out after curfew. A Corvallis officer cited all three into juvenile court and released them to their parents. The citing officer had warned two of the boys about violating curfew and released them to their parents less than an hour earlier.

Straw fire: 6:26 p.m., 6300 block Southwest Plymouth Drive, Philomath. The Philomath Fire Department and a Benton County Sheriff's deputy responded to a report of a straw bale on fire in a field. A field worker said he was stacking hay and then saw smoke from the stack as he was driving away. The cause of the fire is unknown.
