Because of the length of these listings, they are being published by selected categories over several days. Published below are the names of the candidates who filed for open seats on local school boards in Benton and Linn counties:
Alsea School District 7J
Position 1, 4-year term
Aaron Schneider, 26712 Fudge Road, Alsea. Employed by the Siuslaw National Forest. Graduated from Nestucca High School, studied fire science for one year at Umpqua Community College. Studied biology for three years at Oregon State University. Member of several community committees and boards.
Position 2, 4-year term
Douglas J. Westlind, 20399 Sturgis Lane, Alsea. He is a forester. Graduated from Clatskanie High School and has a bachelor's degree in geology from Oregon State University.
Corvallis School District 509J
Position 1, 4-year term
Blake Hume Rodman, 1981 N.W. Lantana Drive, Corvallis. Self-employed journalist/writer. Holds a bachelor's degree in history and teaching credential in teaching/education from the University of California at Davis and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. He currently chairs the Corvallis School Board.
Position 4, 4-year term
Peter Leung, 685 N.W. Walnut Blvd., Corvallis. He is a graduate assistant at OSU. He has a bachelor's degree in computer science from Wayne State University; a master's degree in social psychology from the University of Windsor; bachelor's and master's degrees in sociology from Wayne State University; and is pursuing a master's degree in public policy at OSU.
He served on Gov. John Kitzhaber's Oregon Commission on Asian Affairs, the Benton County Food Service, and Central Lane Metropolitan Planning Committee.
Matthew James Donohue, 570 S.E. Viewmont Ave., Corvallis. Judicial Clerk to Justice Rives Kistler, Oregon Supreme Court; Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Rives Kistler, Oregon Court of Appeals, Law Clerk, Oregon Department of Justice.
Donohue graduated from Belmont High School in Belmont, N.H.; has an ASS degree in forest technology from the University of New Hampshire, a bachelor's degree in natural resource management from OSU and a law degree from the University of Oregon.
He currently represents Position 4 on the Corvallis School Board. Was a member of the Eugene Charter Review Committee and the Eugene Citizen's Committee on Council and Mayor Compensation.
Position 5, 4-year term
Gregory Perry, 7770 N.W. Canyon Drive, Corvallis. He is a professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at OSU and has been a faculty member since 1986. He was interim department head from 2005-08. Perry has bachelor's and master's degrees in agricultural economics from Utah State University and a doctorate in the same discipline from Texas A&M University.
He previously served on the Corvallis School Board, Corvallis Site Council and Franklin Elementary Site Council.
Andrew Gordon Foster, 3026 S.E. Sternwheeler Dr., Corvallis. Owner of Camelot Entertainment. He is a Crescent Valley High School graduate and has a bachelor's degree in political science from OSU.
Monroe School District 1J

Robert C. Warden, 28266 Irish Bend Road, Monroe. He is an equipment operator and retired U.S. Marine. He has an associate's degree in the area of administrative assistant from Linn-Benton Community College. He has served on the board for six years.
Director Zone 5, 4-year term
Tony Stroda, 96535-A Territorial Road, Monroe. He has farmed for 32 years and graduated from Monroe High School. He serves on the Monroe School Board.
Philomath School District 17J
Position 1, 4-year term
James Kildea, 311 34th Place, Philomath. He is a planning manager at Hewlett-Packard. He graduated from Horseheads High School and has a bachelor's degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He has served on the Philomath School District budget committee and the district's long range facilities planning committee.
Marilyn Slizeski, 746 Wyatt Lane, Philomath. She is a homebuilder and property manager and has a bachelor's degree in animal science from OSU and MBA from OSU. She has served four years on the school board and budget committee, city council and city budget committee, board of directors for the Council of Governments, city finance committee, and Benton County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Committee.
Position 3, 4-year term
Thomas Klipfel, 278 S. 16th St., Philomath. He is an IT manager at Hewlett-Packard. He graduated from Notre Dame High School, has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from UC Davis, an aeronautical degree from UC Davis and a master's degree in management from Purdue University.
Position 4, 4 year term
Mark Gunter, 23631 Old Peak Road, Philomath. Gunter has worked in the public works area including City of Albany's treatment plant. He has an associate's degree in water quality from Clackamas Community College.
Donald Cruise, 416 34th Place, Philomath. He is retired after teaching third and fourth grades in the school for 30 years. He has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from OSU and a master's degree in education, also from OSU. He served on the Oregon Education Association board.
