Benton County has named Sarah Miner Johnson the winner of this year's Sheldon Wagner Public Health Service Award, which recognizes the spirit of compassion, dedication, achievement and commitment to improving public health.
Johnson was honored for developing and producing two video projects for the Benton County Developmental Disabilities Program.
One video provides a 10-minute overview of the county's residential treatment program for adults with developmental disabilities. The other, which runs for 50 minutes, is an in-depth look at the program.
"If this were produced commercially, it would cost about $150,000," said Charlie Fautin, deputy director of the county public health division.
The award was announced Tuesday evening during a ceremony to honor department volunteers and mark National Public Health Week, which which runs through Sunday.
Other nominees for the award were Roger Weaver, Carolyn Raab, Anne Beck, Barbara Trione and Dr. Craig Leman.
