Events include walk and flag planting
Oregon State University students will work to raise awareness of AIDS today and Friday in commemoration of World AIDS Day on Saturday.
The activities will culminate Friday with a candlelight walk at 5:15 p.m. from the Memorial Union to Monroe Street. After the candlelit walk, interested persons are invited to see the documentary film "Pandemic" in the West International Hall.
Red flags also will be planted in the Memorial Union Quad to represent the 7,000 people who die of AIDS each day.
Today and Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., information about HIV/AIDS will be available in the Memorial Union student lounge, including a quilt-making table.
Representatives from the Valley AIDS Information Network also will be available at the lounge from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day to answer questions about HIV/AIDS, testing, or related topics.
