The Oregon State University Alumni Association is spreading the invitation to all its alumni: Help wanted with the 2009 Homecoming parade. Anyone interested in decorating floats, participating in the marching band, student and community groups, dance teams, mounted groups or novelty acts are encouraged to get involved as soon as possible.

Those who cannot participate are invited to attend the Oct. 31 march from downtown Corvallis through the campus.

Homecoming 2009 is from Oct. 28 through Oct. 31. The highlight is a football game between the OSU Beavers and the UCLA Bruins with kickoff Saturday, Oct. 31 set for either 12:30 or 3:30 p.m.

The parade before the game has the theme of "Haunted by Orange: Bury the Bruins." It will begin at either 9 a.m. or noon, depending on whether the game has the earlier or later start time.

Details, entry forms and full Homecoming schedules are available online at, by mail or fax from the alumni association, 541-737-2351, or for pickup at the CH2M Hill Alumni Center, the Downtown Corvallis Association and the Corvallis Benton Chamber Coalition. Student organization entries are $10; all others are $15.

The parade will begin in downtown Corvallis at Sixth Street and Madison Avenue and will proceed west on Jefferson Avenue all the way into the campus until it turns south on 26th Street, ending in front of the Dixon Recreation Center.
