Spring break is here, and that means students get a reprieve from classes, teachers get a breather from the classroom and Corvallis residents have a shot at finding a parking place on Monroe Avenue.
Whether they're going somewhere exotic, taking a road trip, performing community service or just relaxing at home, Oregon State University students have big plans for their weeklong escape from the daily grind.
Last week, while OSU students were busy cramming for finals and finishing term papers, Buzz staffers visited the Memorial Union and asked people what big spring break plans they had in store. Here's what they had to say:
"Relax. Spend more time with my friends."
Amber Brown, 23, senior, biology major, Corvallis
"I get to go home and have the luxuries of a kitchen instead of a dorm room. And I plan on working - making some money."
Emily Geurts, 18, freshman, pre-nursing major, Bend
"Me and my friends are going to go to Bend, travel around Central Oregon, go camping, fishing, drink some beer and get away from school for awhile."
Greg Lewallen, 25, senior, environmental sciences major, Portland
"Going to Sun River, rent a house and just hang out with friends and family."
Kim Tasner, 19, freshman, elementary education major, Troutdale
"I'm going to back to California, where I'm originally from. Go to the beach, go to Six Flags and enjoy the real sun."
Jonathan Riley, 21, junior, business major, Los Angeles
"I'm part of a student union, MEChA, and we have a national conference every year over spring break. This year we're going to Denver."
Mara Ventura, 20, junior at the University of Oregon, sociology and Spanish major, Santa Monica, Calif.
