The Corvallis Environmental Center's EarthFaire is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on First Street between Monroe and Madison avenues. Festivities will include exhibitors, music, crafts and "playful creations."
Activities for children and families will be available in the Eco-Village, a resource for information and activities related to water conservation, native landscaping, bicycle transportation, renewable energy, organic gardening, "green" materials, resource efficiency, local foods, alternative currency and more.
Participants in the Procession of the Species parade will gather at noon in Jackson Plaza on the Riverfront, with the parade starting at 12:30 p.m. and winding through downtown Corvallis.
Everyone is welcome to participate by dressing as species that live in either the air, the water, on land or fire (extinct or mythic creatures). The three basic rules for the parade are no motorized vehicles, no pets and no written words.
Those who do not have costumes or masks available can borrow them before the start time at the information table in Jackson Plaza on a first-come, supply-limited basis.
EarthFaire is a production of the Corvallis Environmental Center. Procession of the Species is a collaborative effort of the Corvallis Environmental Center and the City of Corvallis Parks and Recreation. For more information, call 753-9211.
