This log includes incidents in which there may have been a public disturbance or a risk to the public. Information comes from the Corvallis Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff's Office. It does not include all calls for service. The status of incidents may change after further investigation. Locations are approximate. People arrested or suspected in crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

Saturday, May 10

DUII: 1:19 a.m., Northwest Van Buren Avenue and Ninth Street, Corvallis. An officer stopped a car for driving the wrong way on a one-way street and determined she was intoxicated. The woman's blood alcohol content was later determined to be 0.09 percent.

Animal abuse: 11:36 a.m., 5100 block Northeast Willamette Avenue, Adair Village. A woman reported that someone had poured bleach into her dog's water dish. The caller also reported finding a bottle containing gasoline and a partly burnt piece of paper. A deputy interviewed two boys who lived nearby. The boys denied involvement in the incident. No further information was available.

Vehicle accident: 12:05 p.m., Highway 20 at milepost 48, Benton County. A driver heading west on the highway reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, drifted off the road, down a five-foot drop and into a stream. The injured man was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. No further information was available.

Theft: 2:46 p.m., 29800 block Camp Adair Road, Adair Village. A deputy was dispatched to the E.E. Wilson pond to a report of a car break-in. A man said someone broke into his car and stole his tent, air mattresses and a fishing rod. The deputy posted "high crime area" flyers to notify weekend visitors.

Interfering with a police officer: 11:50 p.m., Northwest 11th Street and Fillmore Avenue, Corvallis. An officer attempted to stop a 62-year-old man on a bicycle for having no bike light and for failing to obey a traffic control device. The man continued to ride like the wind, despite the lights and sirens behind him.

Eventually, the man slowed and the officer exited his patrol car - only to have the man ride away again. Another officer caught the cyclist, who said he was hard of hearing and did hear the officer's siren or notice his lights. The man was given a citation for interfering with a police officer.

Sunday, May 11

Warrant arrest: 3:03 p.m., Southwest Third Street and Washington Avenue, Corvallis. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of criminal trespass and felon in possession of a weapon. The man was spotted by an officer near an intersection, arrested and transported to the Benton County jail.

Warrant arrest: 5:04 p.m., Southwest 15th Street and E Avenue, Corvallis. An officer stopped a car for a traffic violation and recognized one of the passengers, who had outstanding warrants for DUII, burglary, criminal mischief and methamphetamine possession. The man was arrested and transported to the Benton County jail.

Assault: 5:12 p.m., 4400 block Northeast Highway 20, Corvallis. A deputy arrested a 13-year-old boy at the Children's Farm Home for punching a staff worker in the eye. The boy was transported to the Linn-Benton Juvenile Detention Center.

Warrant arrest: 7:26 p.m., 5100 block Southwest Philomath Boulevard, Corvallis. An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in an Albany court on theft charges. The officer told the woman about the warrant and she replied that she was not surprised. The woman was cited and given a new court date.
