The Linn-Benton chapter of the Pacific Green Party presents "Sowing the Seeds of Peace," from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Starker Arts Park in Corvallis, off Country Club Place, near Southwest 45th Street and Country Club Drive.

The event will feature music, a vigil for peace, concessions, three congressional "Peace Slate" candidates, and the Green candidate for secretary of state, Seth Woolley. A $5 to $15 donation is requested for each adult.

Songwriter Brian Cutean will headline the musical portion of the program with a 7 p.m. performance. A candlelight vigil for peace, scheduled for 8 p.m., will follow Cutean's performance.

Other musical acts include the Summit Underground Blues Band; Three Fingered Jack, a string band; and the down-home Mighty Warriors. Chaz Matteson, a recent Corvallis High School graduate, will perform a solo acoustic set. Local peace organizations will be on hand with information about their activities.

Sowing the Seeds for Peace features three Pacific Green candidates for Congress, Mike Beilstein, Alex Polikoff, and Dr. Tristin Mock, who are running in the 4th, 5th and 2nd congressional districts, respectively. Beilstein, a Corvallis city councilor, Polikoff, an engineer, and Mock, a naturopathic physician, are members of the party's Peace Slate - candidates for federal office who oppose all funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Woolley, the Pacific Green Party's candidate for secretary of state, also will be a featured speaker.

Concessions will be provided by Earth's Rising Foods, serving organic lemonade, pad thai and the original Tofu Burger. For more information call Tim Dehne at 752-0246.
