Beginning Monday, construction will close 14th and 15th Street between Jefferson and Monroe avenues, as well as the Campus Way parking area extending from 11th Street.

Work on the project to widen 14th and 15th streets will begin with removal of 32 mature trees. The project, which also will add bike lanes, bus lanes and walkways, is expected to be finished in October.

The joint project between Oregon State University and the city of Corvallis will cost about $2 million, with the city paying $227,000.

University and city officials have said the project will make the streets safer for pedestrians and bicyclists and improve bus traffic.
