4-H honors leaders and members

Nearly 160 people celebrated accomplishments by Benton County 4-H leaders and members at a Nov. 17 awards banquet. Special guests included County Commissioner Annabelle Jaramillo and Fair Board members Deb Crisman, Pat Boren, Penny York, Kay Dee Cole and Eric Thompson.

Recognition went to:

Outstanding Leaders of the Year: Linda Hartwig (Home Economics), Tim Miller (Associated Projects); Sandi Hering (Agriculture); and Barb Macal (Wildlife Stewards).

CV students play

in honor band

Crescent Valley High School had 12 musicians who were selected by audition to participate and perform in an honor band in conjunction with the Western International Band Clinic held Nov. 16 to 19 in Seattle. Six hundred musicians from all over the northwest and other states were selected to take part in this event which was comprised of four honor bands with 150 members in each ensemble. The musicians rehearsed over the course of the weekend and then performed in a gala concert with well-known composers and conductors.

Selected students were: Garrison Choitz, clarinet; Eric DeLander, trumpet; Abby Gregory, percussion; Inis Hsieh, clarinet; Greg Nicol, euphonium; Drew Peterson, alto saxophone; Cara Pfund, oboe; Brian Qian, flute; Julia Semprini, clarinet; Steven Stark, alto saxophone; Lisa Thompson, French horn; and Payden Waldo, bass clarinet.
